William Poundstone

William Poundstone is a science writer whose Fortune's Formula (2005) popularized the Kelly criterion's history — from Bell Labs through blackjack, Princeton Newport Partners, and the LTCM collapse.

The book title came from Thorp's 1961 AMS talk; Thorp approved Poundstone's use. Poundstone explicitly points readers to Thorp's technical papers for math Poundstone does not derive.
