Alan Dix

British computer scientist and professor, known for foundational work in Human-Computer Interaction (HCI). Co-author of Human-Computer Interaction (with Finlay, Abowd, and Beale), one of the standard textbooks in the field. Has held positions at multiple UK universities; lives on Tiree, a small island off the Scottish coast.

In the wiki he contributes the local maxima insight into iterative development: that starting position constrains the maximum quality achievable through iteration, and that good iteration requires both a sound starting point and accurate diagnosis of what is actually wrong.
